Classified Advertisements Masterclass

Classified Advertisements

A classified advertisement is a brief, to-the-point announcement in a newspaper. In exams, you are charged marks for extra words! Master the strict CBSE rules below.

1. The Mandatory Box 📦

Just like a Notice, a Classified Advertisement MUST ALWAYS be enclosed in a box. You will lose formatting marks if you forget to draw it!

2. Word Limit: 50 Words ✂️

Classified ads in real life charge money per word. Therefore, strictly adhere to the 50-word limit. Do not write lengthy stories or background details.

3. Phrases, Not Sentences 📝

Do not use full grammatical sentences (e.g., Avoid “I am looking for a…”). Instead, use catchphrases separated by commas (e.g., “Wanted, experienced teacher, fluent in English…”).

4. Contact Information 📞

An advertisement is useless if people cannot reply to it. The ad must always end with contact details: Name, Address, Phone Number, or Email ID.
