1. The Unlikely Best Friends
Unit 2: Friendship | Poorvi
Quick Revision Notes
Characters: Gajaraj (a royal elephant), Buntee (a stray dog), the Mahout (elephant trainer), and a Farmer.
The Meeting: Gajaraj lived in the royal stables with every comfort, but he was very sad because he had no friends. One evening, a hungry stray dog wandered into his stable. Gajaraj kindly shared his food with the dog.
The Friendship: The two became best friends. They played in the elephant pond (though the dog hated showers!), and Gajaraj would gently pick up the dog with his trunk and give him joy rides on his back.
The Separation: One day, a passing farmer recognized the dog as his lost pet, “Buntee.” The farmer happily took Buntee home. However, both animals were heartbroken. Neither the elephant nor the dog would touch their food for days.
The Reunion: Seeing Buntee starving and sad, the kind farmer realized the dog missed his friend. He untied Buntee, who immediately ran all the way back to the royal stable. The two friends were joyously reunited, and finally ate their food. In the end, the mahout and the farmer also became good friends!
