3. The Chair
Unit 2: Friendship | Poorvi
Quick Revision Notes
Characters: Mario (a boy who loved to show off his friends), his Grandfather, and his true friends (Guneet, Asma, and Deepa).
The Bet: Mario boasted about having many friends at school. His wise Grandfather bet him a fruit chaat that most of these children were just companions, not real friends.
The Magic Chair: To test this, the Grandfather gave Mario an “invisible magic chair” from the attic. He told Mario that if he managed to sit on it at school, he would discover who his true friends really were.
The Test: At break time, Mario tried to sit on the invisible chair and repeatedly fell to the ground. The majority of his classmates just laughed and made fun of him, enjoying his bad luck.
The True Friends: Finally, Mario hung in mid-air and didn’t fall. He looked back and saw his three true buddies—Guneet, Asma, and Deepa—holding him up. He realized true friends care for you and don’t take joy in your failures. Mario won the bet and enjoyed fruit chaat with his real friends and his Grandpa.
